We are living in the digital age and corporations are battling it out to be the choice of the consumer whether its television, radio, cellphones or internet. Due to this fact, almost every company out there has a solution for everything. Keeping that in perspective, Nayatel and recently Wi-Tribe as well have launched their apps for live TV streaming in high quality on-the-go for a nominal monthly charge.

Lets see what these apps are all about. Nayatel calls its app “Joy” whereas Wi-Tribe calls its app “Wi-tribe TV”. For the purpose of this comparision we will be referring to them by their names.

Let’s discuss the similarities first. Joy and Wi-tribe are equally priced at PKR150/month.This includes Live TV as well as VoD( Video-on-Demand).

Now let’s discuss the major differences, the first being the number of channels available for viewing, Nayatel offers a paltry 30+ channels for viewing whereas Wi-Tribe’s offering gives 100+ channels, apart from that both offer thousands of video streaming on demand. Wi-Tribe also offers viewing on upto 3 devices simultaneously whereas Nayatel lacks this functionality. With Wi-Tribe TV, you also get a 7-day free trial to check the performance of the service and the quality of the channels before commiting to a monthly subscription. Additionally, you can also hear your favourite radio stations from the app. Another plus point for Wi-Tribe TV is that it doesn’t need you to be signed up to Wi-Tribe’s internet services and hence can be availed on any ISP. It’s also important to mention that Nayatel only offers it’s App on Apple App Store and Google Play Store whereas Wi-Tribe TV app is also available on the Amazon App Store however it should be kept in mind that these services are only available within Pakistan. With all these pros over Nayatel’s Joy, we think that Wi-Tribe really did their homework before coming into the market and offering so many additional features whereas Nayatel’s offering has been stagnant with not much improvements. One thing to keep in mind is that Nayatel Joy only works if you’re a subscriber of any one of Nayatel internet packages.

Something that Nayatel has an edge on is that it also offers an app for Smart TVs and not just Smartphones, it needs a one time subscription and installation fee of PKR3000 for the first TV set and PKR 1500 for more TV sets onwards. Apart from that there is a monthly service charge of PKR200.

The app user experience is good on both. With options to select channels as favourites for easier access later. However, coming towards the conclusion, we would opt for Wi-Tribe TV for usage on smartphones as it really comes with a lot of extra features over Joy whereas for Smart TVs we would definitely recommend that consumers opt for Nayatel’s offering as it’s really giving a good offer with a lot of channel selection within a minimum charge. You can also contact Nayatel helpline if you need assistance with anything.
