This medieval epic takes us on numerous voyages with different various lords and rulers, knights and mavericks, mongrels and unadulterated bloods, executioners and unfortunate casualties, as they attempt to outflank each other at all times high-stakes, living and breathing round of chess for the control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and its Iron Throne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game of Thrones<\/a> is a monster success. Everyone knows that.\nThere are a lot of things that make this tv drama such an amazing and addictive\nshow. GoT is shocking, brutal, unapologetic, unpredictable, and yet beautiful,\npoetic and visually stunning at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although everything takes\nplace in a made-up world, anyone who knows a little bit of history will\nautomatically recognize that the kingdoms loosely mirror Great Britain from the\nmiddle ages. This sort of thing makes the series extremely rich with context.\nIt gives it depth and stringency. The details of various cultures, customs and\ntraditions that live in R.R. Martin\u2019s world all feel very authentic and real,\nso it\u2019s no surprise why most viewers tend to completely lose themselves in this\nmedieval fantasy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike other great tv shows\nthat we have the luxury to easily follow today, Game of Thrones\u2019 narrative\nmoves forward relatively slowly. The producers of this project don\u2019t want to\nrush anything. They are smart enough to take their time in order to build up\ntension and create a big and extraordinary world for us filled with various\nwell-developed characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t know about you, but when it comes to Game of Thrones, I am one\nof those viewers who came for the carnage, but stayed for the characters.\nMartin\u2019s character arcs are so damn good. Even though the celebrated writer\ngave us such a great, intelligent, detailed and rich palette of different\nheroes and villains, to me one name that really stands out from the crowd is\nnone other than Daenerys\nTargaryen<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why? \u2013 Because, her journey is mostly concentrated on growth, overcoming\nchallenges, and building an army of warriors that could help her retake the\nIron Throne and rule all of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an online businessman\nwho\u2019s constantly trying to improve his brand, grow his customer base and\ndominate within our niche, We truly came to admire her ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carefully following\nDaenerys Targaryen on her journey from Essos to King\u2019s Landing, I\u2019ve noticed a\nlot of patterns in the way she builds her army. I came to understand how she\ntackles all the obstacles that stand in her way, how she manages to get various\ndifferent people to blindly believe in her cause and follow her to glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, without any further\ndelay, here are a few growth hacking lessons we picked up along the way from\nDany Stormborn while geeking out to Game of Thrones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.\nLead, Never Follow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike most of the heroes\nin this series, Daenerys Targaryen truly owns her achievements. And she wants\nto make sure that you instantly know who she is, where she\u2019s been, and where\nshe\u2019s going. As we seen so far in the show, the youngest child of Aerys II\nTargaryen is a natural born leader. She is determined to always position\nherself as an alpha of the pack and there\u2019s not much you can do about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But how does she do it? \u2013 Easily, by backing up her convictions and\nextending her hand to those whom the other\u2019s left behind to rot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe there’s an extraordinary exercise to be learned here. With regards to developing your image on the web, it’s is of pivotal significance that you begin considering yourself a genuine pioneer. Daenerys Targaryen is no stranger to loss of grief. In fact, that is her\ndefining characteristic. She falls, only to rise up again, even stronger than\nbefore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As all of you who actively\nfollow the series and R.R. Martin\u2019s books know, the princess first lost her\nfather, then her home, then all her blood relatives, then her freedom, and\nfinally \u2013 her husband and a child. And yet, she still stands proud and fights\nfor her place in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every move she has made so\nfar in the series, every council she has taken, every person she has liberated\nfrom chains or put back to the ground, every insult, punishment and beating she\nhas received \u2013 has been in service of reaching her goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To us Daenerys\u2019 spirit and determination are like a breath of fresh air.
<\/a>It doesn\u2019t really matter if you run a web hosting company, a big ecommerce site, a retail store, or a digital marketing agency \u2013 just like Daenerys you\u2019ll come face to face with various types of scenarios where you\u2019ll be forced to make some unpopular choices. But, that doesn\u2019t mean that you should always abandon ship every time you come across some trouble. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These days, growing your\nbrand on the Web is no easy task. You need to get your hands dirty and overcome\nsome pretty hard times. 3. Find Your Own Dragons, Feed Them, Care For Them, And\nThey Will Return The Favor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just like Khaleesi cared\nfor and nurtured her dragons until they were big enough to fight for themselves\nand their mother, you should do the same for your brand and investment. If you,\nlike me, work for a web hosting company, then your network is your dragons. You\ncannot expect from it to help you rule your niche, while it\u2019s still small and\nweak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you really want to grow\nand position yourself as a leader in your industry, you have to be patient and\nwork hard with your dragons. You have to feed them, pet them, and care for them\nuntil they become a real source of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You need to wait until your products or services are good and ready\nbefore you unleash them on the world. Launching an incomplete and weak product\nor service will get you nowhere in business. It doesn\u2019t matter how much money\nyou\u2019re willing to invest in marketing, or how hard you\u2019re willing to work your\nprospects \u2013 without big and powerful dragons by your side, you won\u2019t reach your\ngoals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, take a note from Khaleesi\u2019s playbook. Focus on development, before you go out and try to fully conquer your niche. Make sure that your product is good and ready before you use it to win over new customers. If people see your flaws, they won\u2019t help you spread the word about your brand, and your dragons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.\nEmbrace The Diversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As all of  you who regularly follow the show already\nknow, Daenerys Targaryen knows how to use your uniqueness to her advantage.\nBeing the last of the Targaryens and a woman battling for power in a world\nruled by strong and ruthless men, Daenerys definitely stands out from the\ncrowd. With her long silver hair, milky skin and unorthodox view on slavery \u2013\nshe really knows how to draw attention to herself. She has embraced her\ndiversity and turned it into one of her most powerful weapons, which says a lot\nwhen you take a moment to realize that we\u2019re talking about a woman who has\nthree freakin\u2019 dragons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a world where every business is basically copying each other,\ndiversity comes like a ray of sunshine after the rain to almost every type of\nconsumer. Today, every spark of originality, regardless how big or small it may\nbe, can completely turn the game around in your favour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though we\u2019re constantly bombarded with all sorts of tips and tricks on how to climb the ladder to success, as an experienced marketer I came to understand that there\u2019s no better quality in business than being unique.Learn from Dany\u2019s and Sami\u2019s examples and leverage on your uniqueness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Building a Bigger and Better Brain Trust Is Equally Important As Building Bigger Muscles for Your Brand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you, like me, come into contact with a lot of ambitious people who\nare interested in making it big online, you\u2019d have noticed that these days a\nlot of digital entrepreneurs think they can actually make it on their own. They\nget so blinded by their vision and love for the project or brand in which\nthey\u2019re investing, and that basically makes them impervious to all sorts of\nreasonable councils and friendly comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They think that all you\nneed to succeed in business is money and strong will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without even taking a\nsecond to rethink their actions, ask their colleagues for advice, employ some\nexperts to help them develop their idea in a proper way, or investigate the\nmarket \u2013 these guys literally burn their last dollar on an idea that was doomed\nfrom the very start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why? \u2013 Well, because it\nwasn\u2019t really tailored to fit the needs of an actual consumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These entrepreneurs spend\nan insane number of hours per week working on all the wrong tasks that will\nnever make them any money. Eventually, these guys end up scared and annoyed by\nthe lack of profit or progress, so they abandon ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though Daenerys\nTargaryen is strong-minded, determined and set on achieving her goal, she still\nknows that she isn\u2019t the smartest person in all the Seven kingdoms. She knows\nthat even though she has lived through hardships and experienced all sorts of\ntraumas that really made a bond between her and her people, the young Queen of\nMereen is rational enough to understand that she still lacks experience in all\nsorts of different fields, like running an actual army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mother of Dragons also\nknows that she isn\u2019t really a skilled politician. Daenerys knows what she needs\nto do in order to get people to follow her to the end of the world, but to\nactually rule over them and solve all their everyday issues, rebellions and\nstruggles along the way \u2013 well, that\u2019s a whole different ball game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike most online\nbusinessmen I know, the young Targaryen acknowledges her limitations. That\u2019s\nwhy Khaleesi has all sorts of different advisors by her side. Missandei, Grey\nWorm, Tyrion Lannister \u2013 these are just some of the names that Daenerys has\nemployed to her help her rule over Mereen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though she is always\nthe one who calls the shots, she listens to her brain trust, let\u2019s them speak\ntheir mind on the matter, processes their council, and only then comes up with\nan actual decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the fact that her\nprimary goal is to multiply her army and recruit new people to actually swing\nthe sword in battle for her, Daenerys still cares a great deal about who and\nhow commands her troops on the battlefield. Like a smart leader she is,\nDaenerys knows that muscles without brains don\u2019t mean anything. That\u2019s why\nshe\u2019s focusing on creating a team of strategists that will know how to use and\nmanage her resources in the best possible way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think a lot of us should\nstart taking notes here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.\nKnowing Your Customers and Truly Caring for Them Are Two Completely Different\nThings \u2013 Always Aim for the Second One<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a marketer, you may  read tons of articles in which the authors\nclaim that if you want to win big in business, you have to truly know your\nbrand and your potential customers. You have to know who your future shoppers\nare, as well as if your product or service is in any way gender or age\nexclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like they say, it is your\njob to understand to whom you\u2019re selling and what. Figuring out what your\nshoppers like, what they dislike, and what makes them interested in your brand\nshould be on top of your to-do list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you have all that,\nonce you get your hands on all that information, you\u2019ll have to take that\nnewly-acquired knowledge and apply it to your marketing. If you succeed in\ndoing that, your conversion rates will sky-rocket in no time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having all this in mind\nwhile watching some of my favorite GoT episodes, We have noticed that, in a\nway, Daenerys Targaryen uses the above-mentioned tactics in her growth strategy.\nShe targets the weak, the forgotten, and the oppressed, and recruits them to\nher army by promising them the very same thing they are so longing for \u2013\nfreedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talk about knowing your\ntargeted audience, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, unlike most businesses out there who use these so-called customer personas<\/a> to reach out to their prospects and get\nthem to buy their products and services by speaking their language and\ntargeting their deepest troubles and desires, Daenerys Targaryen truly cares\nabout her people. Being a person who has been forgotten, stripped of\neverything, sold like a piece of meat and tortured just for the fun of it,\nDaenerys Targaryen really understands what it means to be a slave. Khaleesi has\nlived through it all herself, and that\u2019s why it\u2019s so easy for her to get the\nabandoned and unfortunate to pick up her banners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After seeing the status on\nslavery and the conditions in which common people live in Slaver\u2019s Bay,\nDaenerys immediately took action by ending the rule of slave masters in that\nregion. That\u2019s how she earned her nickname \u201cMhysa\u201d, which in old Ghiscari means\n\u201cmother\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Focusing on the events from\nthis season, we can see that the Targaryen princess is no longer just a\nvisionary. She now has an army of 8000 Unsullied, 500 Stormcrows, and God knows\nhow many Dothrakis, Brazen Beasts, Saltwater Shields, Mother\u2019s Men, Free\nBrothers and other freemen. Daenerys is now a legit leader of a legit army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But how does she do it? How\ndoes she keep all those people on her side? What makes them love her so much? \u2013\nSimple, her attitude toward her crowd. By showing a real interest in her\npeople, and their heritage as well, Daenerys has positioned herself as a just\nand lovable leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think there\u2019s a lesson\nto be learned here. If you truly want to turn your prospects into your loyal\ncustomers, you need to lead by example, promote value of everyone\u2019s interest,\nmake your brand awareness a priority, and connect the personal with your overall\ncause. Only then will you truly understand your buyers, get them to\npassionately follow your brand and recommend it to everyone they know.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
