New Promises in E-Banking 2015

E-Banking 2015 Conference was held on 23rd April at PC Hotel Karachi, organized by Total Communications and sponsored by known local and foreign organizations specializing in e-banking technologies. The conference began on time and the speaker panel consisting of senior management professionals of banking and IT companies along with Deputy Governor of State Bank of Pakistan spoke on the occasion.

The event saw the soft launch of Covalent, a joint venture between TPS and Access Group, where Access Group using its Managed Services skills and TPS its award winning e-banking solutions now offer outsourcing services to entities of banking industry. 1Link’s CEO Faisal Ejaz Khan shared plans for this year:

“1Link will be launching 3 services in hopefully the next quarter:

1) 1Link POS Switch

2) Direct Debit, which will make Pakistan 6th country in the world to roll-out this service

3) ATM Locator app that will have all banks in its database, including MCB”

Representatives from State Bank, FPCCI, HBL and Wincor also spoke at length about present and future of banking in Pakistan.

The conference was followed by panel discussion session on channel strategies with leading figures of the industry giving their views, opinions and expert advises.

“With almost 200 million population and majority of them youth, digital banking in Pakistan is going to grow phenomenally. It is set to help the individuals as well as businesses with instant information availability and transfers/payments. Self service banking is to bring the transactional cost low, fraud cases to get reduced and the mobile commerce becoming a reality.” Shahzad Shahid, CEO TPS.

 

Various presentations from respected organizations showed what future holds for banking industry in Pakistan and was concluded with another panel discussion, this time on ATM Security Challenges.

The event is also known for exhibition that takes place in parallel to the conference where companies set up their booths and industry people met each other and interact. Hardware companies demonstrated their latest products, software companies explained their newest solutions to visitors and even banking entities made their presence felt in an exhibition which otherwise is dominated by vendors of E-Banking industry.
