The packaging was strong and took some effort to open. The device is quite handy and easy to use. We inserted the broadband sim and turned it on (we had place the mini sim but it is recommended to insert sim with full jacket). The device worked well and was easy to setup, as the following video is going to show.

Accessories & Instructions
The device came with two sims and one data cable. It was fairly easy to use and instructions were clear. Once attached, you only need to login to Zong’s dashboard on the IP 192.168.8.1 and access details. The ID & Password are by default ‘admin’ and it is recommended to change them right after your first login.
Performance
The device connects with Zong 4G service and falls back to 3G when the connection is not stable or 4G service is not available. The range is quite good as well and our devices were able to connect across the office. Our smartphones registered one signal out of four across two walls over a distance of 10 meters, providing the WiFi signals are strong even if not as strong as a proper router. It is possible to force the device to not use 4G services and limit itself to 3G and 2G, though 2G is not much useful (as our highway experience told us) since we could barely receive and send WhatsApp messages.
Despite high bandwidth the performance remained a bit unstable. Although we easily experienced download speed up to 300 kbps for various files, we decided to test it out through torrents. The two movies, each 1 GB, that we downloaded one after the other experienced fluctuations. Hovering around 50 kbps, the speed would rise up to 300 and fall back to 100 regularly, finally increasing up to 1.3 Megabytes per second. Within one hour we downloaded the two movies.
The Zong 4G MiFi device is not only mobile broadband cloud but can also function as WiFi Extender. If you do not wish to use mobile broadband and receiving weak WiFi signals at home/office, simply put the device on WiFi extender role and place it to best catch and relay signals. The battery life has been decent and we have used the device for few hours constantly without the need for recharge. On Zong’s website the device usage time is listed 6 hours and standby time is 300 hours, which seems believable if the climate is cool. In our tests in hot climate in interior Sindh with temperatures up to 44 degrees, the device battery reduced the more we used it constantly. The device would also get so hot that we feared it might get damaged, so we regularly rested it and preferred using during cooler times of the day or in A/C cooled rooms.
Huawei App
Huawei offers a special Mobile WiFi app that is available on Android. Once you indicate your package and data limit on the main dashboard, the Huawei’s app (when connected to Zong’s device through WiFi) instantly displays remaining data, device battery, messages received and perform a number of settings such as activating WiFi extender or switch to 5 GHz network from 2.4 GHz (the latter has longer range and former has more stable connection).
The app is very handy as it not only prominently displays remaining bandwidth but you can use it to check signal strength and find out if the device is connected to 4G, 3G or 2G service. With a simple slider, you can turn off “Support LTE Network” to force the device to ignore 4G services and limit itself to 3G and 2G.
Coverage (This is developing section)
Our office at Bahadurabad suffered from unstable 4G signals. We received 1 to 4 signals, speed ranging from 5 Mbps to 9 Mbps. At Sindhi Muslim we experienced full signals, download speed as high as 27 Mbps. During Eid holidays we tested the device at various locations inside and outside Karachi such as Hyderabad/Jam Shoro (near Sindh University), Larkana and Sukkur.
When traveling, we lost 3G signals about 40 kilometers away from Karachi, somewhere between Bahria Town and DHA City. Device registered 3G signals about 100 kilometers later (140 km away from Karachi) that cover Hyderabad and Jam Shoro region. In Larkana and Sukkur we experienced only 3G signals with incredibly high speed.
There are two possible reasons for high speed experienced at Larkana and Sukkur despite no 4G coverage:
- Paktel had an incredibly thorough network coverage in interior Sindh but weaker in urban region. Due to lack of high rise buildings, signals are easily caught and Zong is able to maximize 3G coverage without much effort
- The load on Zong’s mobile internet is very low, making it possible for us to experience very high download speeds
We will be testing performance at other areas and post results.

So should you buy this device?
This device is certainly worth the money, given the speed it offers and the coverage area which allows you to use this device as a true mobile broadband. If you are looking to buy this device for home use, please make sure that you have a good router which supports USB because you cannot rely on the Wifi capability of Zong Mifi as it is built to support wireless devices closer to the device. Overall it is highly recommended for personal or home usage with multiple users. One more thing to keep in mind is that this device has a capped data limit hence those people who are hardcore users should look elsewhere because Zong WiFi packages have fixed tiers of data volume and a person needs to decide first which package to go for thus the whole concept of unlimited internet doesn’t apply on Zong 4G device because users might end up subscribing to a higher tier package but not using it and thus it could be a waste of money.

Sir you said we are getting two sims? So two separate numbers will be activated on our nic or one sim with two numbers? As I only have one sim left to be registered on my NIC
There will be two separate numbers that need to be activated, though for the device only Broadband sim (internet sim) is needed. The other sim is regular one, which you or anyone in your family can activate on their CNIC and use it as a regular number.

Enter https://192.168.8.1 in your browser, enter username ‘admin’ and password ‘admin’ go into wireless setting there you can change password of wifi. Or just plug your mifi usb port in PC/Laptop and it should start working

Admin is a default password for the web portal. If it is not working for you, try resetting the device or call customer service for guidance.

Yes, it will work with Desktop computers as well. Simply plug it in and computer will detect is just like it does USB dongles. The internet should start working, subject to signal strength.

Heard the minimum pulse charged by Zong is 1MB as compared to 64Kb by other networks, can you confirm? Do you see your data package getting consuming faster than expected?
Dear Irtiza, in our testing we did not feel any unusual draining of data package. From our experience the pulse charge is 64kb and not 1MB.

I have got the device since a week or so and I think same that its consuming faster than expected and in addition for first few days signals were rock solid upto 4 on 4G but now the signals have started dropping too and max I get is 3 signals.

Please Suggest me which one is better? Zong Mifi or Zong Wingle I know the differences but which is best by signal reception, Heating problem & Wifi reception?
From our experience the signal reception is equal for both, though portability of MiFi is a benefit. If the environment is relatively cooler, both devices will work equally well. In hotter climate, with devices placed in hot rooms when outside temperature is easily around 45 degrees, both devices will heat up a lot. It is ideal to rest them a bit.
WiFi receptivity for both devices is excellent when you are near them and provide high bandwidth. When you are away, even though you continue to receive signals but drop in bandwidth is significant as well.
MiFi is clearly better but purely on portability factor. Otherwise Wingle will work equally well if you use a power bank as portable charger and it’ll be as effective as the MiFi device.

To close your Zong sim currently active on your CNIC, you need to visit the nearest Zong outlet and fill out their form for sim closure. It is a compulsory step that cannot be done through phone or without visiting the outlet.
Zong 4G MiFi device is Rs.2,500 and minimum package charges are Rs.1,500. Which means the first month charges are Rs. 4,000.
Zong 4G Wingle device is Rs. 2,000 and minimum package charges are Rs.1,500. Which means the first month charges are Rs.3,500.
From second month you only need to pay package charges which are minimum Rs.1,500 (details provided on this post).

I have been connecting iphone, windows 7 laptop, lumia mobiles its giving goos access of internet. But when i connect it with note 3 it connects but internet never access on mobile. But whenever i connect my note 3 with any other wifi hotspot; it run seamlessley and in awesome speed.
Whats the reason i have installed Hi-Link app from playstore but yet the same position.
Please help if i am doing any mistake.

Apologies Hammad, I missed out on your message. I am not sure why Note3 isn’t using the internet from the Zong’s device, haven’t heard of any such problem from other users. Can you delete the Zong connection from your Note3 and connect it once again? That might help in sorting out any IP conflict issues that may prevent functioning of internet on your device.
Dear karachites i have connected and disconnected many times but same issue. I have reset my phone my device. And when i connect Hilink app its works for few minutes but after few minutes its disconnect again and than never connect and shows authentication error and secured connection.
But note 3 connecting with all my other wifi connections.

Wasio… I have a few questions that i need to clear up in my mind before i go with Zong’s 4G Wingle –
As i mentioned above, im looking to buy 4G Wingle – but i will be using it at home and although the signal is great outside the house (I have used Ufone 3G and Warid LTE previously) but i need to know that… If i connect this Zong wingle into my TP Link router (TP Link MR3220, which accepts USB devices), then it will throw the signals into the house much further right?
Second question, if I suppress the signals of TP Link MR3220 router and use a LAN cable to another TP Link router which is situated inside the house (the house is a bit big), then the router no 2 which is inside the house, should be able to spread the signals as well right?
Please help me out since Zong’s live chat keeps making me wait for hours and they do not respond to emails also.. the review is excellent and has cleared up quite a few things but i just need clarity on this because already the device is 2000 and the monthly expense will be 2000 also… so i need to know if i will have to buy another router or …something else.
Also, i need to know if the wingle is inserted in my laptop then how far will the signals from that wingle go? or will i have to start my laptop’s hotspot?

Hello Zahra, sorry for the late response.
Your situation is a bit unique, so I will try to answer as best as I can.
1) Your first situation is using Zong MiFi device with TP Link MR3220 device. According the TP Link website this router is capable of accepting and propagating 3G/4G signals, but there is no mention of MiFi devices. Which means, if you have Zong 4G Wingle, you can easily use that with your router and it will indeed send signals much further into the house compared to the device. I cannot guarantee if the MiFi device will work with it or not.

However, please check the following fine line:
* 4G LTE Modems Compatibility apply to TL-MR3220 Version 2.0 ONLY.
If you wish to use Zong 4G, make sure your router is version 2.0, otherwise you might be stuck using only 3G speed of the device.
2) When you would connect the LAN with your second router, it will spread the signals of the LAN connection inside the house. That is true, however it will not amplify the signals of your MR3220 router (you would need a repeater for that and LAN wire will not be required). You would have the option of using the internet from MR3220 WiFi signals or from Router 2 in the house.
3) As for Wingle, once you connect it with laptop it will automatically start its own hotspot which is good enough for a couple of rooms. The signals would not survive passing through multiple walls and internet will deteriorate the weaker the signals are.
In case the hotspot of the wingle device doesn’t get activated after connecting with the laptop, simply go the Zong device’s settings and open the WiFi hotspot.

I have connected this Zong USB Wifi device with TP Link 3420 and yes it is working. I am thinking of connecting it to another router via LAN cable
Will I be able to use the Zong WIFI device by simply plugging it into the TP-Link router or do I have to configure it with the router?
wingle has maximum reach of 10m or so. its not ideal for using away from source device. i am sending you a link/snap of wifi signal booster, its tried and tested and easily available in market and on olx. wifi booster strengthen the wifi signal and also maximize the signal reach.
Which charger should we use to charge this device? Because it is taking much time to charge when it is charged through laptop.
I used Samsung’s charger and it worked fine. I even experimented using HTC wire and Samsung charger, it still worked great. Just make sure you don’t overcharge and remove it as soon as the charging completes.

Its better to start fresh on router.
Just be careful, high speed works both ways and you can exhaust download limit. When not in use disconnect or find better where you get unlimited download

Zong Mifi is giving exceptional speeds even in Larkana as per our test. Not sure how much it will consume in that much time if remains idle but I believe it will be minimum around 5-10MB

There is no refund policy. Zong 3G is more stable than 4G, if you have good coverage of 3G in your area, expected speeds are around 5 – 15Mbps.
3g avg speed is 5mbps and most of the time 8mbps…..in 4g coverage map my area is mentioned
We cannot say for sure, please test using Zong SIM in your mobile. If you have more than 5 SIMs then either close one of the SIM or get the data SIM activated on someones else name

I am getting 10 to 16 mbps on zong 4g wingle on 4 signal bars most of the time i have been getting 4 bars but sometime 2 and 3 bars also on 4g lte. But with 2 to 3 bars just 2 to 3.5 mbps. In my 40 days of experience i got 2 to 3 days bad experience with it and and got 2 to 3 signal bars.

I want to ask about everything internet service zong is providing, which one is better for gaming and least downloads,
& Is it important to have a Router which accepts USB devices or if i can just connect it to my computer for personal use like gaming/surfing?

Will it work in Liyari Town, Area Khadda Market / Nawabad ? Because you have not mentioned these areas in your tested areas list ?
We recommend you to first use Zong SIM on your phone, if you get 3G or 4G signals than it will definitely work.
I have been using Zong 4G Wingle for the past 3 months now on a Laptop. The issue that I am facing is that whenever i start to download something from the internet, the device gives me the top speed but after few minutes the device stops and limited or no connectivity sign starts to comes in the below task bar. Then i have to restart the device and continue the downloading and then again after few minutes it stops. Please help

Zong is ripping off people by overcharging using false data metrics. I purchased their 4g mifi when I was very upset with Ptcl submarine cable last month. It was a bad decision. I evaluated my usage from last 4 months Ptcl bills and found my max usage was 26.7 Gb per month. Got the 50Gb package and thought of reducing it to 1500 (25gb) next month by controlling usage.
ITS BEEN EXACTLY 17DAYS AND THE DATA IS FINISHED.
I have data usage trackers installed and connect with mifi as a metered connection. My max usage is 19.58GB so far. But as per Zong, its all gone, ripping me for not getting what I paid for.

You are absolutely correct, i am also facing same issue and i have track my whole data usage by Linux plugin and almost 28 GB difference came. I have call them and they even not generate any ticket on Data Calculation issue… They are really stupid.
man this is 4G LTE.You simply cannot compare your PTCL’s data measurement with the zong’s high speed 4G LTE. I understand your data usage tracker app but that only measures data from one specific device.

yesterday i downloaded a movie from popcorn time. total movie size was 715MB. Only other simultaneous internet usage was zong device portal at 192.168.. at the end of download, internet consumption was 1.25 GB download and 150MB upload for the session.

That’s because you’ve uploaded the movie, while you were downloading it. Zong combines both upload and download in their 50GB limit. PTCL on the other hand, only charges you for the downloads.
No, that’s not true. Data usage is always measured as Dl + Ul (both inclusive). (Same for PTCL).

zong internet is very good only for simple browsing but it is worst for programming. zong never provide port forwarding(virtual server) option and static ip option.
